Worth the Trip

It’s worth the trip and you don’t even have to leave town. JoAnne’s Frame Shop and Gallery located on 309 in Quakertown between Popeye’s and Yellowtail is an easy stop on your usual trip down the main drag.

“We offer the best framing services with high quality custom and ready-made frames that beat craft store prices,” owner JoAnne Schmalz said.

To celebrate the third anniversary at the Quakertown location, she has planned a series of gallery events between now and year’s end for you to experience the work of local artisans. Now is the best time to start your holiday shopping for gifts.

In addition to offering custom and off the wall framing services, each month the gallery is open for a featured artist’s meet and greet reception followed by a month of viewing and purchasing possibilities. On display and always in stock are hundreds of works from 25 local artists that include: jewelry, pottery, hand-crocheted towels and washcloths, homemade soaps, Alpaca socks, and soft and squishy rugs and blankets “that you have to touch to believe.”

Beginning at a reception on Saturday, September 9th, artist Anne Landis, known for her breathtaking still life watercolors, will introduce all new work at the show.  Hers will be followed beginning October 13th by pastel landscape artist Brenda Boorse and 19-year-old pottery sculptor Julia Castor who will also be introducing some paintings in the show.

When it comes to framing, Schmalz said, “What I like is a challenge. I really love when someone walks in with a problem item to frame. I love to frame needlework and fiber art; anything, complicated memorabilia in shadow boxes. I love the look on their face when they see the finished work.”

Joanne’s Frame Shop and Gallery offers quick turn-around time and Joanne is always happy to accommodate your rush needs.  Make the trip she said, “We’re right here.”
